Apple Books is a free app for e-book reading that can be obtained from the Apple App Store. Users can use the app to find, download, and read e-Book on Apple devices. - Re-establish the wireless internet connection
Apple Books may not work in case your iPhone XR is not connected to the internet. You should disconnect the network and then connect to it again. Here is what you need to do:
Re-connect to the Wi-Fi.
- First, open the Settings app.
- After that, tap on Wi-Fi.
- Toggle it off.
- Wait for a few seconds and then enable it again.
Refresh the Airplane Mode
- Tap on the Settings app.
- After that, tap on Airplane mode.
- Turn it off.
- After waiting for a few seconds, toggle it back on.
Resetting the network settings
- Launch the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Tap on the General option.
- After that, select the Reset option.
- Now, tap on Reset Network Settings.
- Allow the phone to restart.
- Force quit the app and restart the iPhone XR
At times, there could be a minor glitch causing the Apple Books not working issue. Force quitting the app can fix these glitches. Follow the steps mentioned below to do so:
- To get started, swipe upwards till the middle of the screen.
- Slide rightwards or leftwards for locating the Apple Books app preview.
- When located, slide upwards to close the app.

- Perform a Soft Reset
It is also wise to quit any other running apps as they might cause conflicts. After closing all the open apps, just soft reset the iPhone. Doing so will help in removing junk files, cache, and temporary data, which might be causing the Apple Books app to malfunction. Follow the steps given below:
- First, hold down the Power button along with the Volume Up button.
- Wait for the Power Off prompt to appear.
- Now, you need to power off the iPhone.
- Wait for a minute and then press the Power button to restart your phone.
- Sign in and out of the account
Sometimes, Apple Books not working issue can be fixed by simply logging out and then logging back in. Follow the steps given below:
- Open the Settings app.
- Select your name option at the top.
- Now, choose the Sign Out option.
- When the prompt comes, type the Apple ID passcode and select Turn Off.
- After that, hit the Sign Out button.
- Once again, tap on Sign Out.
- After doing so, reboot the device and log back in.

If you cannot find certain books, then you need to go to the hidden purchases. Follow the instructions mentioned below for unhiding Books on your device:
- Launch the Apple Books app on the iPhone.
- Hit on Reading Now. It is available to the lower portion.
- Now, select Manage Hidden Purchases.
- When the prompt comes, type the password for your Apple ID.
- Find the book and select Unhide for making it visible.
- Install Updates
At times, Apple Books may fail to work because of outdated software. Here is how you can get the latest iOS updates:
- First, open the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Tap on General.
- Now, select Software Update.
- In case any update is available, then install it.
- Offload or Remove Books
Your app may be corrupted. Hence, you may have to Offload or remove it. The steps for the same are mentioned below:
- Open Settings.
- Tap on General.
- Select iPhone Storage.
- Choose Books.
- Now, select the Offload App option.
- Or else, tap on Delete App.
- When it is over, reboot the iPhone XR.
- After that, move back to the Settings app.
- Tap on General.
- Select the iPhone Storage option.
- Choose Books from the List.
- Now, tap on Reinstall App.
